 Description:  Untitled account of his experiences in Galveston Storm. Text reproduced in Casey Edward Greene and Shelly Henley Kelly, eds., Through a Night of Horrors: Voices from the 1900 Galveston Storm (College Station: Texas A&M University Press, c2000), 75-93.  Fayling came to Galveston in 1900 as district manager for a New England publishing syndicate.  Following the hurricane, he served as Chairman of the Committee of Public Safety of the City of Galveston.  He organized militiamen and surving police officers in the first few days after the Storm to restore order and prevent looting.
